Over the past year, I have seen the change from a traditional rehearsal dinner to a more casual cocktail party for several reasons

1. More of a festive feeling
2. It can allow for more guests
3. Does not compete with the wedding in any way
4. It allows for all of your guests to get to know each other a lot better than a sit down dinner
5. Shorter time period
6. Dress can be more casual
7. Foods can be more fun
