Ted’s Tips – Flowers For The Wedding
Ted’s Tips – Weekly wedding insights from Westin’s wedding planner Ted Daniel.
“Flowers are an important component of the wedding as well as the budget.
For the cocktail hour:
One large floral piece on the placecard table or food station or a smaller floral piece on the placecard table and some rose petals on the cocktail tables with a votive candle both work well. The larger piece will give you a greater impact but can be costly, where the smaller floral and rose petals will give you the look without breaking the bank.
As for the dinner tables:
High and low centerpieces work well as it gives the room a different look and allows you to incorporate different flowers into the high and low pieces. High centerpieces can become costly, so by doing some low pieces, it will help the budget.
Work with seasonal fruits and use seasonal flowers in your centerpieces, this will also help the budget.
Allow your florist to be creative as that is what they do, this will in the long run probably get you more than you would have if you were specific as to how you think the pieces should look.
When picking bouquet and boutonnière flowers, ask what flowers will last the longest, you do not want wilting flowers half way thru the day. Carnations are making a come back, they are great for color, mixed in with other flowers.”
